ESP: What do you love most about raising a family in Fairhope?
Shannon: I love the sense of community and the slower pace of life here. Fairhope has such a special kind of beauty — from the sunsets over the bay to the simple everyday moments that make life feel meaningful. My children grew up surrounded by, water, nature, creativity, and people who genuinely care for one another, and I’m so grateful for that.
ESP: How has motherhood influenced your art and creativity?
Shannon: Motherhood changed the way I see beauty in the world. Becoming a mother made me notice light, color, emotion, and fleeting moments in a much deeper way. So much of my artwork is inspired by sunshine, water, movement, and joy — all things that remind me of my children and the life we’ve built together.
ESP: What inspired you to become an elementary art teacher?
Shannon: I always loved art, but I also always loved children. Elementary art felt like the perfect combination of creativity, imagination, and connection. Over the years, my students have inspired me just as much as I’ve taught them. Honestly, they’re a huge part of why I started sharing and selling my own artwork about 10 years ago.
ESP: What is your favorite part of teaching children art?
Shannon: The joy and freedom they create with. Children approach art so fearlessly and authentically, and being around that every day is incredibly inspiring. My students constantly remind me to create more freely, take risks, and not overthink the process. They’ve influenced my own artwork in more ways than they probably realize.
ESP: How have your children shaped the woman and mother you are today?
Shannon: My children have shaped every part of who I am. They’ve taught me patience, perspective, resilience, and unconditional love. Each of them is so different, and watching them grow into who they are has stretched and strengthened me in the best ways.
They’ve also deeply influenced my creativity and the way I see beauty in the world. Between motherhood and teaching children every day, I’m constantly inspired to create with more joy, wonder, and gratitude. I truly feel both motherhood and teaching have made me softer, stronger, and more grateful.
ESP: What is something you hope your children learned from watching you pursue your passion?
Shannon: I hope they learned that creativity matters and that it’s never too late to keep growing or pursuing something you love. I hope they saw the value of working hard, staying inspired, and creating a life filled with purpose and joy.
ESP: How does your family encourage your creative work?
Shannon: My family has always been my biggest support system. My husband, Jon, has encouraged every creative idea I’ve ever had — while also keeping me grounded when needed. My children constantly inspire me, encourage me, and cheer me on. They’ve all played such a huge role in helping me continue creating.
ESP: What does this season of life with a teenage daughter look like for your family?
Shannon: It’s a sweet mix of independence and togetherness. Lizzie keeps our home full of energy and life, and even though her older siblings have homes and lives of their own now, she still has a way of bringing everyone back together. This season feels busy, emotional, joyful, and incredibly special all at once.
ESP: How do you balance motherhood, teaching, and your own artistic goals?
Shannon: Some days better than others! I’ve learned that balance doesn’t always mean everything gets equal time every day. Sometimes family needs more of me, sometimes teaching does, and sometimes creativity does. I try to give myself grace and keep creating in whatever small moments I can.

Jon and Shannon Noble are college sweethearts who have shared 26 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories. They are proud parents of three children: Shelby, Jon Wesley, and Lizzie. While Shelby and Jon Wesley have grown up and established homes of their own, 15-year-old Lizzie continues to bring the family together on a regular basis.
When she’s not working, Shannon can often be found chasing sunsets along the bay—a hobby that has earned her the title of “self-proclaimed sunset chaser.” She also loves spending time in the kitchen, where cooking provides a creative outlet and a chance to slow down, unwind, and connect with those she loves.
