What started as a dream in childhood has become a reality for Elle Cecchini, a first-grade teacher at Stonebridge Elementary School.
“I teach first grade, and truly, it has been my dream since I was a little girl. There is something magical about this age,” Ms. Cecchini shared. “My students walk in as curious little learners, and by the end of the year they are readers, writers, and confident thinkers. Getting to watch that transformation unfold right in front of me is the most rewarding experience.”
She describes a typical day in her classroom as warm, joyful, and full of curiosity. Creativity is a must. She works to nurture an environment where her students can connect lessons to real-life experiences, allowing them to understand the material in a whole new way.
“My teaching style is energetic, creative, and full of joy. I want my classroom to feel like a place where learning is exciting and students feel safe to be themselves,” said Ms. Cecchini. “If you walked into my room, you would probably hear laughter, see lots of movement, and feel the excitement that comes with discovering something new. First graders have incredible energy, so I try to match it. We sing, move, collaborate, and explore ideas together. I believe when learning feels joyful and interactive, students naturally become more engaged and excited.”
Relationships are at the heart of everything this educator does. Her core value in the classroom is making sure every student feels seen, valued, and important every day throughout the school year.
“This is my second year teaching, but teaching has always felt like part of my story. My mom was a teacher when I was growing up, and I watched the way she cared for her students and poured her heart into her classroom,” Ms. Cecchini reflected. “Seeing the difference she made in children’s lives planted that seed in me very early. She showed me that teaching isn’t just about lessons and curriculum—it’s about building relationships and believing in children.”
Elle Checchini, originally from the Northeast, earned her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Stockton University in New Jersey and is currently finishing her master’s degree at Auburn University. She describes herself as a beach girl now living the Southern life and is thankful to have much of her family nearby. Spending time with friends and family recharges her batteries and allows her to give her best to her students. Elle enjoys being on the water and soaking up the little moments that make life special.
