Ordo Amoris Roman Day

On Friday, October 11, our students enjoyed a fantastic time celebrating Roman Day! One unique characteristic about Ordo Amoris is that the entire school studies the same era of time in their humanities class. Having spent the first quarter immersed in learning about the ancient Romans, the entire school came together, dressed in their finest Roman attire, for a day filled with fun and competition. The festivities kicked off with Certamen, a quiz bowl competition showcasing the students’ knowledge of classical civilizations, languages, and cultures. Bunyan Hall took an early lead with their impressive performance in Certamen, but Knox Hall swept the Fine Arts competition and won the costume contest.
One highlight of the day was the morning assembly, led by Mr. Colbert, where he spoke about the Christian martyrs in ancient Rome. He reminded us of their steadfast faith in Christ, even in the face of persecution, encouraging our students to be bold in their own walk with the Lord. This was a powerful way to tie together the historical lessons of ancient Rome with the deeper spiritual heritage we share as Christians.
A grand Roman Feast was enjoyed in the courtyard, and the day concluded with a spirited game of harpastum, an ancient Roman ball game. We are so grateful for the joy and enthusiasm the students brought to the event, making it a day to remember.

St. Michael Catholic High Named to AP Honor Roll

69—St.-Michael-Catholic-High-Named-to-AP-Honor-Roll

College Board announced that St. Michael Catholic High School has been named to the 2024 Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) School Honor Roll, earning GOLD distinction.
College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) enables students to pursue college-level studies—with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both—while still in high school. Through AP courses in 38 subjects, each culminating in a challenging exam, students learn to think critically, construct solid arguments, and see many sides of an issue—skills that prepare them for college and beyond.
The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.
St. Michael Catholic High School had 51.76% of seniors (‘24) who took at least one AP Exam during high school and 36.471% took five or more! 66% of these students scored a three or higher on at least one AP Exam.
St. Michael Catholic High School has 10 faculty members that teach 19 sections of our 12 available AP courses.
“AP gives students an opportunity to engage with college-level work, to earn college credit and placement, and to potentially boost their grade point averages,” said Lisa East, Dean of Academics.

Angie Fuentes-Pena was nominated by Mrs. Jones. Angie is thoughtful, kind, and takes the lead in helping others. She is often found making sure those around her know what they are doing and helps them navigate around the campus.
10th Grade
Aspen Thompson was nominated by Mrs. Wichterman. Aspen always takes a moment to check on her classmate and helps her with the things that she needs. This morning, after Mrs. Ledlow finished explaining the assignment instructions, Aspen looked over and said “Do you understand what we are supposed to do?”. The student does not typically respond to her, but that does not keep Aspen from being kind and asking anyway. She proceeded to help walk the student through the assignment and checked on her periodically. She has a caring and kind heart.
11th Grade
Saylor Morrow was nominated by 3 teachers. She is such a true Warrior! She keeps her spirits high and participates during dress up days and the pep rallies! She is heavily involved in pickleball club and in Jr. Optimist’s club. She has been very diligent about her schoolwork and is so generous with her help and notes. She tries to help other kids in class, and she is a good person for partner work.
12th Grade
Elijah Gee was nominated by Mr. Sutton. Elijah is a role model. He has stayed after many football games in order to clean the field and bleachers without being asked; he and a few friends are often the last to leave. He and his friends also keep the campus tidy after lunch waves, taking pride in their school. He can be seen holding open doors during class change and greeting everyone with a warm smile.
